Sleepy Time Gal was a B17 G - which operated in Europe in 1944/45. There are several B17’s from that era with this name. Assigned the code 42-107112, Sleepy Time Gal began service in April the 6th of 1944 and was scrapped in March of 1945 after completing 47 missions. She was based upon the artwork of Alberto Vargas ,whose art appeared in the magazine Esquire.
The original aircraft was not painted Olive drab - but was bare aluminium.
The panel represents the current aircraft - B17G 44- 83624 which has been repainted as Sleepy Time Gal. This aircraft is on display at the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
The panel is painted in olive Drab and Neutral Grey with the artwork painted onto a dark blue splash.
